The world is a scary place right now. The doomsday clock has been adjusted to 2:30 minutes to midnight, the closest it’s been since 1953 (the start of the arms race between the US and Russia). We’re this close to becoming a dystopian society. It’s been increasingly difficult not to just pull the covers over our heads and hide. But we want to fight, dammit. We do not want to go gently into that great night. There are some seriously heavy battles that need people to fight them, but we need to be the best we can be in order to be effective.
Getting fit and healthy is a good thing for numerous reasons, especially now. Why bother punching Hitler in the face if you can’t put real strength behind it?
We’ll be starting a series of posts that will hopefully address both the “get fit” and the “fight fascism” parts of the title, with our first focus being the former. Here’s what we’ll be sharing:
- Meal planning ideas and recipes – If you’re like me and organizing is your jam, then having a meal plan is essential. Whether you like spreadsheets or apps, we’ll give you some tools and tips to take the guesswork out of eating healthy.
- Workouts – Look, we dislike exercising just as much as the next person, but it is essential to the “getting fit” thing. In the interest of finding an activity that doesn’t make us want to cry, we’ll be trying out a bunch of different stuff at all different levels and letting you know our thoughts.
- Listening material – Want an audiobook to listen to while you’re running? A playlist for when you’re pumping iron? A podcast to take your mind off the bicycle? We definitely have some recommendations.
