Every Friday we’ll pick a theme and then five things (hence the name! We’re so original!!!!!) that fit that theme. Feel free to make your own choices in the comments, or send them to us on Twitter. This week we’re talking about that dumb holiday that most people hate. You know the one. Flowers and chocolates seem to be the standard fall back gift for this particular holiday, but there are so many other things you could purchase to proclaim love! Like …

I’ve been way more into experiences as gifts than things as gifts lately, and I’ve been trying to indulge my love of live theatre more often. Buying me tickets to a show would be a sure way into my heart.

Instead of chocolate, how about beer that tastes like chocolate? I LOVE having a porter or a stout that is thick and smooth and sweetish for dessert instead of actual dessert. With the craft brew revolution there have been a lot of hoppy IPAs on the market, but there have also been a lot of really good malty dark beers, too. Throw a bow around a growler and I’m yours.

Just put me and my dog in the car and drive. I don’t want to think about where we’re going or make any decisions. Entertain me, feed me, and have me home early.

I’m a fabric hoarder and am always grateful when I get it as a gift. Even if the print or fabric isn’t something I’m 100% in love with I love being able to think of creative ways to use the gift.

Like fabric I can never get enough polish. Nail art has really helped me relax lately.
