Home Remedies

Home remedies are my go to when I get sick. I prefer them over medications just because I am trying to decrease the amount of chemicals I put in my system. (Please note that I am referring to things for colds etc. If you are considering use of home remedies you should consult your healthcare provider on their uses and your efforts to decrease medication usage.)

Essential oils (via)

The first thing I go to, especially if I am getting sick, is essential oils. These things have literally kept me from being much worse off than I could have been. I use essential oils from everything to helping me focus on school work, relaxing at night, to decreasing my cough and improving my immune system. There are lots of oil companies out there so if you are looking to use them, I highly suggest doing your research as well as talking to your health care provider.

Local Honey (via)

The second thing I am a big proponent of is local honey. I really put the emphasis on local honey. Bees are amazing things and by using local honey you are increasing your exposure to local plant life as well as get the benefits of honey. When I feel a cold coming on or spring is upon us and I don’t want to get a random sniffle, I start to drink hot tea with local honey.

Epsom Salt (via)

Next up would be Epsom salt. It truly is wonderful. This stuff can pull out the junk in your system and help you relax. Seriously if you need to relax take a bath with some Epsom salts in it. You will feel amazing afterwards.
