Mel here to share the TV shows I put on when I just want something to relax. No stress, No tears, just a good old time that leaves me feeling better.

Bob’s Burgers

I love this show. At it’s core it’s about a family that loves each other, warts, farts and all. It pokes fun at things from Bronies to boy bands while still having heart and not shaming anyone for loving them. Bob works two jobs to give his daughter the party she needs. Gene protects his sister from a bully proving he can be a big brother. Tina helps Louise know it’s OK to have a crush on a boy. They’re constantly getting into messes and then helping one another get out of them. I love that. I love that they aren’t afraid to deconstruct a number of social issues in a funny, heartfelt way.

Salvage Dawgs

There is something about how this show tries to save and reuse things that is so comforting to me. They go into places and are able to look at things, like a conveyor belt, with the potential of what it could be. I feel inspired and educated after every episode I watch. They give a little bit of history on every site which makes my nerd heart happy.

Good Eats

Speaking of shows that teach you things, this one is one I could ALWAYS have on. It’s inspired me to try new foods and helped me explain why you should/shouldn’t do things when cooking. I think the thing I love most about this show is how it inspires my kids while they watch. We love science in our house as well as food and this combines both. There’s also something charming about Alton’s way of teaching.

Mythbusters

I feel like you may be sensing a theme in the shows I like to watch…. I’m not sorry. I think what I loved most about this show is how they were more than willing to revisit myth’s they’s already done. In a world filled with so much false info this show was all about proving things in a scientific manor. It taught me to question things until I could find real answers.

Yuri on Ice

This show got me through the last half of 2016. It’s delightful, lovely and makes my heart happy.  My BFF did a whole post about it here.

Those are my shows, what are yours?
