Some of you mayremember my post from last year about the horrible Harry Potter-themed bar crawl that I went to. If not you can check it out here for reference.
This year was so much more fun.
First off, I attended with my girls (we call our group Gryffinpuffs.) I mean, Renée even got to come in from out of town for it! And we were determined to have a good time no matter what! With that in mind, we decided to cosplay. We tossed around a lot of ideas, but finally settled on shop keepers/workers from different Wizarding stores.
After that was accomplished & we were dressed we were ready to hit the muggle world. Although it still wasn’t as organized as I would think a bar crawl should be, all the bars were fully stocked this time around and, well, it was just more fun.
Me as a Bar keeper/worker at the Three Broomsticks
Ashlie – Last year Lauren and I slapped on our fav HP tops and off we went. This year we spent time trying to decide on who we should go as, and all of the talk got Renée hyped up to come in town for the occasion. It was just fun to spontaneously get an email or text with ideas over the course of a few months prior. The aprons that Lauren and her mom made!!! Seriously, these turned out AMAZING and Renée added our shops logos to them. We each looked perfectly our parts in my honest opinion. Being immersed in the HP world with everyone else was amazing. There’s just something about being in a big group with a common thread. Everyone’s friendly and it’s fun to see what the other people did to express their HP love. We even had a drink and a chat with a woman who wasn’t part of the bar crawl
Another part I loved was trying all of the drinks! I mean, we’re at a BAR crawl, let’s do this, AMIRIGHT?! I found out that The Severus Snape tastes like the color black, Amortentia is divine, Liquid Luck was scrumptious, and I even got some sort of Pumpkin drink not on the Wizarding menu but delicious nonetheless, but Butterbeer was by far my favorite! I mean, it’s Butterbeer, how can you go wrong?! I wish it would have had the fluff on top like at the Wizarding World but these muggles did their best.
Renée as the shop keeper from Flourish & Blotts
Renée – I FINALLY got to get away from the house with NO kids. And it was amazing. We went to the Harry Potter themed bar crawl in Toledo. It was a fund raiser for MS and a blast. While there were many people there who put on house themed clothes that you can get anywhere, my NLLP and her mom MADE us aprons. We went as shop keepers. Super unique I thought.
