Hey all! Mel here for our next instalment of my holiday gift guide. As you can tell from the title I sharing come ideas on a few things the cosplayer in you life may love. Let’s get started!

flash-knock-off

Imagic 12 Cream Palette. So this is basically a knockoff of the $99 flash palette from Makeup Forever. I know it looks super bright and not useful outside of over the top looks. However, believe it or not you can make almost any foundation color with this. It’s all about color theory and knowing your skin tone. I’ve actually used this for foundation. I’ve also used it to change my eyebrow color to match my character. You can buy here.

Gift Card to Joann’s or any other craft store. If your cosplayer is someone who sews their cosplays this is an amazing gift. It’s a little more personal than money (though there is nothing wrong with money) and it takes away from some of the costs of making an outfit. Plus this also takes care of the odds and ends that can add up. Thread, closures, elastic, boning, Patterns, interfacing, piping and buttons are all available here too. Michael’s is another great option if the cosplayer doesn’t sew but crafts other things.

glue

All the glue! No really. Glue in all it’s forms can be an amazing gift for cosplayers. Wood and mod podge are used to seal all kinds of props. Hot glue is great for countless different projects and I don’t seem to have enough. Fabric glue is great for those who don’t sew or adding appliques to outfits. E6000 can help bond almost anything. You get the idea, Right? Glue is a cosplayers friend.

Craft foam. This, like glue, can be used in countless ways when it comes to cosplay. From armor to ears, it’s a staple in most cosplay kits. You could even make a basket with foam and a few different types of glue to makes really cute gift!

Photo shoot voucher/gift card. Photo shoots are common depending on the cosplayer. I don’t do them so much but if you’re cosplay does this is a great gift option. You could even give money with a little note about what it’s for if you can’t/ don’t know which photographer to go with.

2015-fashion-high-temperature-cosplay-wigs

Wigs. I think I’ve only done one cosplay without a wig. They’re just so much easier to work with and bump up any cosplay. Ebay and Amazon have a bunch of great of you know what you’re looking for. They have great prices only the quality can be hit or miss. Arda Wigs are a little more but the quality has always been great. They offer gift cards too if you aren’t sure exactly what wig your cosplayer is looking for.

brushes

Brushes. These are something I can never seem to get enough of. Either I lose a ton or ruin them. Pictured above are makeup brushes but don’t think that’s the only kind. Don’t get me wrong, a good set of makeup brushes is totally helpful in cosplay, but craft ones for painting props are also a great option. It all depends on your cosplayer.

And with that I think we’ve got a great base for the cosplayer in your life. Let me know what other great options you know of for cosplayers! Happy holidays!
